    Watauga County Schools has named its latest group of teachers of the year -- one from each school in the district. Chosen by their peers, the nine newly awarded educators were selected from a group of more than 300 teachers district-wide at all grade levels.

  • Mabel's Mrs. Merritt selected to compete in 30 Second Book Talk Challenge

    Voting has begun in the 2017 30 Second Book Talk Challenge, a Twitter competition that tasks teachers with recording a thirty second video in which they talk about their favorite children's book as part of an effort to promote literacy. Mabel School third-grade teacher Mrs. Bronwyn Merritt has been selected to participate in the challenge with her book talk on the classic James and the Giant Peach. Click for more.

    WHS Nursing receives donation

    The nursing program at Watauga High School last week took delivery of a host of medical equipment donated by the Foley Center at Chesnut Ridge. A total of seven of workers were tasked with unloading the equipment and installing it in the classroom. Click for more.

    Cove Creek EcoRaiders focus on nature

    An environmental science student group 35 members strong at Cove Creek School has been making an impact around the community. Recently, the group received a grant to establish an observational bee hive at the school. Click for more.
